The objective is to provide its students with background knowledge and understanding of business, functions of organisation and business environments in which it operates. Examine different types of organisation, its size and scope and their operation.

Identify the relationships that business have with other stakeholders and how external environment influence decision making.

The learning and understanding will help students to opt their area of specialism in future studies in their professional career.

Part-1

Learning outcomes:

Scenario

As a Trainee Business Analyst in North West London Chamber of commerce. The role of organisation is to help prospective business to succeed in their ventures. Different events and conferences are being organised by chamber as part of business owners and prospective business owners.

The next event includes organisation types, sizes and scope and interrelationship [ of various functions within organisation and its link to organisation structure.

The leader for event has tasked you with research the different types and sizes of business they will have to compete with. You need to investigate and determine different types and purpose of organisations using business of your choice in Public, Private and Voluntary sectors. It should include their legal structure, size and scope to make difference between them.  Explain different function of business and explain interrelationships between different functions. Discuss the role of organisation structure and functional areas to achieve objectives with examples.

Organisations can be of different type, size and scope have set of objectives to accomplish. As part of research evaluate how structure, size and scope helps in achievement of organisation objects and products and services offered by organisation. Discuss the advantages and disadvantage of interrelatedness between functions and impact on structure.

It should be a report format to team leader and aim of following:

• Prepare an overview of different types of organisation and growth of international business environment.
• Overview of chosen organisation which includes background, product and services it supplies, size and scope of organisation, vision, mission and objectives and legal structure and information about stakeholders.

Part 2

Learning outcomes:

LO3 Determine the positive and negative impact of macro environment on business operations along with examples.

LO4Discuss the internal strengths and weaknesses of specific businesses and its interrelationship with external macro factors.

Brief

As part of event identify the positive and negative impacts the macro environment has on business operations with specific examples. In first event use two organisations to analyse the external and internal of organisation to identify their strength and weaknesses and interrelate the same with macro factors.

The event promotion has gone fantastically with lot of participants registered.  From the registered ones they need a practical exposure and understanding of macro environment factors and organisation internal audit. Use Pestle analysis to support the evaluation of macro environment and SWOT analysis of two organisation and justify how they impact decision making. In last the impact of macro and micro factors on business objectives and decision making.

It needs to be presented in Report format to team leader and include an overview of examples of macro environment and external macro factors on business.
